Shelf Stable Bone Broth – Updated Recipe FAQ March 2026Updated a month ago
What changes were made to the Shelf Stable Bone Broth recipes?
We recently made a few updates to improve palatability, reduce sediment, and enhance the overall feeding experience based on customer feedback.
Beef Recipe Updates:
- Removed lavender
- Removed lemon balm
- Reduced apple cider vinegar
Chicken Recipe Updates:
- Removed clove
- Added ginger
- Reduced apple cider vinegar
Venison Recipe:
- No changes
Why were these changes made?
The previous use of certain herbs (like lavender, lemon balm, and clove) contributed to increased sediment and a darker color which impacted palatability and appearance. Removing these herbs helps create a clearer broth with a more consistent appearance and improved acceptance among pets.
Will the broth look different now?
Yes, some visual differences are expected. Updated recipes should appear:
- Clearer
- Lighter in color
- With less visible sediment
This product does use real ingredients so variation in color from batch to batch is normal.
Will the smell or taste be different?
Possibly. With the removal of certain aromatic herbs, the overall aroma may differ slightly from previous batches. However, these changes were made to improve overall palatability for dogs.
Why does the broth still sometimes have sediment? Is it safe?
A small amount of sediment can still occur naturally in bone broth. This is normal and safe to feed. Just shake well before serving.
What if a dog is picky or hesitant to drink it?
For pets that are more sensitive to taste or aroma, we recommend:
- Diluting the broth with a bit of water
- Mixing it into food rather than serving on its own
Are there any changes to nutritional value or safety?
No. These updates do not impact the safety or intended nutritional benefits of the broth. The product remains a safe, nutritious hydration and mealtime enhancement option for dogs.
Is the Venison recipe affected?
No, the Venison Bone Broth recipe remains unchanged.
