What is the difference between freeze-dried and frozen raw?Updated a month ago

Both freeze-dried and frozen raw start with the same high-quality, humanely raised meat, bone, organs and certified organic produce— the difference is how they're preserved and how you use them.

Frozen raw is minimally processed and kept in its natural state through freezing. It has a higher moisture content, which is great for hydration, and is generally the most "whole food" format. It requires freezer storage and thawing before serving.

Freeze-dried raw goes through a process that removes nearly all moisture while preserving the nutritional profile of the raw ingredients: freeze-drying. The result is a shelf-stable product that's lightweight, easy to store, and convenient for travel or households without a lot of freezer space. It is recommended to rehydrate before serving as a meal.

Nutritionally, both formats are comparable — freeze-drying is not a heat process, so it doesn't cook or significantly alter the nutrients the way other heat-processing methods do. The main tradeoffs are convenience, cost, and moisture content.
