Why does my frozen food like grey or brown?Updated a month ago

Color change in frozen raw is normal and doesn't immediately indicate spoilage. Raw meat contains myoglobin, the protein responsible for its red color, when exposed to oxygen (or lack thereof in a sealed package), it oxidizes and can shift to gray, or brown tones. This is the same process you see with raw meat from the grocery store.

As long as the food smells fresh and was kept continuously frozen, the color change is purely cosmetic and your food will thaw and feed completely normally. If you notice an off smell or unusual texture beyond normal variation, that's a better indicator of a quality or mishandling concern — feel free to reach out if something seems off.
